RENDEZVOUS 2003

Chesapeake Rendezvous 2003

The Chesapeake Rendezvous for 2003 will be held on June 21 & 22 at the Cambridge Yacht Basin in Cambridge MD. Slips will be available at the Basin. Members should call 410-228-4031 for slip reservations. The Cambridge Yacht Club (next door) will host our annual dinner and cocktail party. If you enjoyed last years party, you will love this years. An interesting program is being planned, details to follow. Please contact Jerry Mangan BertMangan@aol.com and let him know when you make your reservation.


FLORIDA RENDEZVOUS 2001

The first Florida Trojan rendezvous was held at Pirates Cove in Stuart FL. We had a total of 3 boats and 11 people. Even though we did not plan a year ahead for this, everyone that was able to make it had a great time.

Saturday was just a relaxing day of getting to know everyone, touring, and checking out each others boats. A small group even went to the Chapman Maritime Museum which was within walking distance of the marina. Saturday evening started off with appetizers and drinks.Then it was on to the main course of smoked chicken and ribs that had been cooking most of the day and served with all the fixin's. Topped by Key Lime pies for dessert. (Yes, made with real key limes) After a wonderfull meal, we got to talking about our plans for next year. It was decided that we would have the Florida rendezvous on August 3 & 4 2002. (Yes, you have been warned of the date almost a year in advance, so plan that vacation now.) As with the rendezvous by our northern Trojan friends, we have planned our events for next year too. ( A poker walk, treasure hunt and fishing excursion.)

The rendezvous will be held again at Pirates Cove for 2002. This resort has plenty of dock space, a pool and rooms available for the weekend. I would like to thank both Dave and Grant at Pirates Cove for their accommodations and discounts. Thanks again to John Hunter for the tee shirts. And a special thanks to everyone who showed up for such a great time. I myself had a blast and hope to see everyone there again next year. I also hope to see a lot more Trojan boats next time.

RENDEZVOUS 2001

The second Trojan rendezvous was held on June 8,9&10 at the Milford Landing Marina in Milford Conn. Seven Trojan boats attended and one couple arrived by car and stayed at a local hotel .

Friday night all members participated in a cookout with all members bringing something to cook or serve. There were spare ribs, hamburgers, hot dogs, steak, potato salad, macaroni salad, cake and cookies, soda and beer. Well, you get the idea. Friday was also spent greeting old freinds and making new ones.

Saturday morning began with a fire fighting demonstration by the Milford Fire company. Later that morning we all started off on our "Poker Walk". This is where we all visited a lot of stores in town and were given a poker card just for visiting and got a second one if we purchased anything. All the stores displayed a sign "The Downtown Milford Business Association Welcomes the Trojan Boat Owners Assoc on their POKER WALK."Milford is a nice little town and all the merchants were friendly and really glad to see us. The member with the best five card poker hand at dinner that night, won the prize. The poker walk was the brainchild of member Greg Goulard, who spent several days before the rendezvous, setting this all up, and we do thank him for this effort. Carver Boat Co. donated T-Shirts with TBOA rendezvous, June 2001 printed on them. These were given to all present.

Saturday night saw us all at the Stonebridge restaurant for happy hour and dinner. As too often happens, there was an unsual event. At the same time we were eating, a camera crew was filming a commercial for the restaurant. They had an actress, posing as a waitress carrying a tray of drinks through a crowd at the bar. Well, after we finished eating, many members stayed to watch. When the film crew wanted to film the "waitress" weaving through a bunch of dancers, they could not get any of the other patrons to dance. SO, The Trojan Boat Owners Assoc. provided all the dancers, and now appear on TV in the Stonebridge Restaurants commercial. What a hell of an evening that turned out to be.

Sunday was a day of partying and more shopping. We had a short meeting and Roger Wilson volunteered to run next years rendezvous. Boats started heading home, but a few of us stayed over till Monday. Plans were made for getting together for boat trips and more. Alltogether, a great time was had by all, and all looking foward to next year.

I remember the site well before I came here and I remember those postings on the rendezvous. It's a shame the site ended up as it has over the past few years...I stopped due to the spam I received in emails.

2002 Florida Rendezvous

What a great weekend!!! Four Trojan boats were in attendance. Other guest arrived later Saturday representing two more boats for a total of six, one couple from the east coast and one couple from the west coast. “AENEAS” and “SWEET CAROLINE” arrived Thursday to prepare for everyone’s arrival to the Pirate’s Cove Resort located near Stuart, Florida. “ANDIAMO” and “PRINCESS ANNA” arrived by Friday afternoon ready to celebrate. Our first task was to raise the new “TROJAN BOAT OWNERS FLORIDA RENDEZVOUS” banner with a toast and a cheer. Special thanks to my brother Charlie for having the banner made at no cost.

Typical to South Florida summers an afternoon shower helped to cool things off. By early Friday evening it was time to get things together for the evening’s Potluck dinner. With a great spread of food before us, Tee shirts and hats were passed out and we celebrated with a toast to TBOA. John H. and the TBOA contingent from the North graciously provided tee shirts and hats. Everyone should be recognized for bringing great food to the table. The rest of Friday evening was spent at the bar enjoying a great live band.

Saturday started out with time in the pool and then by noon the treasure hunt/quiz began. Taking time to answer questions and hunt for the hints occupied everyone while in the bar room and other places around the resort. Of course the heat of mid-day helped draw us into the air-conditioning. Some of the questions were obvious but others took more mental power than expected. Congratulations to Jane from “Andiamo” for winning the grand prize. Jane asked for the right hints, which gave her the winning hand. Consolation prizes were passed out to everyone for their efforts. What fun!!!! Late noon was spent around the pool to cool off and hanging around the boats and the dock. The afternoon showers again drove everyone in for brief cover. It’s amazing how the clouds and rain helped to cool things off.

By early Saturday evening a gathering took place on “Andiamo” for cocktails. Thanks to Guy and Jane for hosting. As the hour went by I had to finally announce that we had honored guests with us, Harry Schoell and Frankie Fruge, SURPRISE!!!!. Yes, the H. Schoell designer of the Trojan International Series Delta-Conic hulls. Frankie runs a company that takes many of Harry’s newer designs such as the Duo-Delta Conic hull and Pulse Drive system and markets them worldwide. After a few short videos on several of Harry’s designs, both new and old, along with many questions on the Trojan’s Delta-Conic hull it was soon time for us to head to the restaurant for dinner. We set up a table of original brochures, past articles from boating magazines (thanks Rodger and Dot) and article’s written on Trojan Boats (thanks Harris). Roger and Dot happened to be original Trojan Boat Owners when Jackson Marine in Pompano Beach had arranged rendezvous in 1983 (Bimini) and 1985 (Ocean Reef). With a total of 20 guests, Pirate’s Cove did a wonderful job of accommodating us with great food and spirits. The late evening made for another night at the bar for live music and others, time to share at the boats.

Sunday morning was an early departure southward for “AENEAS” and “SWEET CAROLINE” back to Boca Raton. “ANDIAMO” left shortly after for their northbound trip back to Satellite Beach. Harris and Gillene from Punta Gorda on the West Coast along with Rodger and Dot from “Princess Anna” spent the day on Harry Schoell’s Duo-Delta Conic 21’ runabout powered with the Pulse Drive system. What a ride!! Does that boat scream!

If you missed the rendezvous, well you really missed the boat. Ask anyone who was there.

What a great weekend. A special thanks to the TBOA members who made it. A special thanks to Dave, Grant and the staff at Pirate’s Cove for everything. A thanks to my brother for the banner. Thanks to Harry and Frankie for making a great weekend very special.

CHESAPEAKE RENDEZVOUS

It was a smashing success!! 21 boats were present and 6 owners arrived by car. The marina, the food, the program, the weather and the social events were perfect. You have never seen so many beautiful Trojan boats in one place. We had 58 for dinner. John Leed’s presence was a big addition and the party lasted way past bedtime. If you missed it, better get on next years list early, we are all coming back.

CANADIAN RENDEZVOUS

We had a very successful weekend. We had 5 Trojans show up, 15 people and great weather, everyone had a great time. The members really enjoyed Doug Dawson’s information on Trojans. (For your info, this man has the original brochures on most Trojan models and specs in mint condition back to 1955) I have known Doug for 22 years and he will come back next year if we ask him. Thanks to Carver for the hats and T shirts

NORTH EAST RENDEZVOUS

Well, I will say that all who attended did have a great time. We had 2 boats and 4 members came by car. It really started off well as Roger Wilson spent a lot of time planning and getting things organized. Then, at the last minute, roger got ill and could not continue. Then, as we started out from Sandy Hook, the Nagel’s boat broke down and had to turn back. But that was not the last of the bad luck. As I was getting ready to run for home, I blew the timing chain cover and lost all the oil. So, I was a guest of the Marina for 4 days while the great maintenance staff got it fixed.

Now, I must ask those members in the North East just what do you want in a rendezvous. Are we planning them too early (weekend before fathers day last 3 times) or what? Please let me know what you want. It takes a lot of work to put these together, and it’s disappointing when only a few boats show up.

It's a shame I didn't own my F36 for the Chesapeake one, I am only about a 5 minute cruise to the yacht club.

Here's a chance for you to join a group of Trojan boat lovers next July in the Solomons, July 15th thru 17th.

Why be sorry ? The same group has it every year , this it will be most likely at Lankford bay marina just east of rock hall . near the end of july

And we will be have a get togther in the Solomans weekend of the 16th of July . This The 2nd one of many start in Port kinsale last year By Jamie

One by boat for sure (Solomons ) and may have to do the Rendezvous by car . Its a good run to the Rock Hall area for me ( 150 nat miles ? ) so I may not do that by boat this time . I will be taking a week off for the Solomons as I will leave there and go up the bay or up the Potomac to DC. one day up and a week to get back is how I like to do it . to take the boat up to the rendezvous a week later would be a bit much on the my budget and time off would be hard as ruining up on a sat and back on Sunday is a little nuts ($900 fuel ? ) Just to have dinner . But "U Never Know "
If I was closer I would. ( within a 100 miles ?) remember I am at the bottom of the bay

Yeah I know long ride to come up that far for 2 days. But I do look forward to meeting you and whoever else shows up at Solomons. I'll bring the Sea Ray stickers!! I just picked up my F36 last weekend in Sept.'10. Had it down to Annapolis two weeks ago. It ran fine, but I do want to convert to electronic ignition on those orphans. Then they may not be quite as hungry?
