I have a 1978 F30 and need a new Flybridge helm unit. It has a top fill cap. All I can find online is side fill units. Can anyone help?

Welcome to the forum.
I would start with the sponsor of this forum, Beacon Marine - he has a great selection of Trojan parts and if he doesn't have what you need he may know where you can get it.

Thank you Tim I will contact them. To Jamie it is close but the fill cap is up right next to the shaft.

if you find you have a syten hydraulic helm as i do/did in my 78 f32 i can share some insights with it if you wish. seastar helm m/n 5271 and not the baystar is the correct unit now. assuming you have upper and lower stations you will need the vented cap for the upper helm station. if you have more questions i just went through the process due to a leaking lower hem

Can you post a photo of it ? a 30 yo boat may not have the unit it cane with or the hydraulic steering could have been added later ( my F30 came with cable )

Thank you for all the replys. I have fixed the unit with 2 6in hose clamps and JB weld. It is now holding fluid with no leaks.
