Fuel Sending Unit - Question

I have a bad sending unit in one of my tanks. I want to replace it this spring. Its a single wire sending unit (origional). Question is it appears its screwed into the tank and has a sealant on it. Anyone know what type of caulk you would use on the gas tank, or is this a rubber gasket? Seems like a black caulk to me.

Seems like a silly question. 3M 4200 says not recomended for direct contact to gasoline.

Should be just a "rubber" gasket some one may have put sealer on it
get a new one when you get your new sender ( may come with one )

Make sure the sending unit impedance is a match for your gauge or it will not work properly (ie 33 - 240 ohm). Not all are the same. Perhaps one of the Tri guys knows which one you need to match the gauge.
