International Prop Question

Well I finally got to go on my new to me 1989 11 Meter Express. As most of you folks know I had it shipped to Erie 2 days before Thanksgiving and shrink wrapped. With the snow and no marina key ect.ect. I have not seen it since.

So when I get on it today I find the props are: 24x25 4 blades, Shafts are 1 3/4 inch, also has dripless shaft seals.

She has 454ci. 350 HP each.

Question: Is this the factory set up? or has it been changed??

Previous owner did say he replaced shafts and props(soft grounding)

P.S. I thought my 32 ft. wellcraft St. Tropez was a fair sized ride. This thing is a BEAST!!! Hugh cockpit. Lovin it already

RWS is the on INTERNATIONAL boats I'm sure he'll be along or could shoot him a pm. Do you have blue ones or black 454' s ?

Not to steal the post but , the merc pumps location sucks ! And the crank mounted Johnson style pumps are ezer to service. I've found a place that sells the brackets but the only setup for them in my marina is on a 8.1 single belt engine so would like to see them on a older set of blue 454' s.

I wish I could provide you with the specifics on the diameter and pitch for the 11 meter, however I can direct you to someone who can.

Roger DeVore over at First Mate Marine in Boca Raton is THE 11 Meter guy. He is also the individual most responsible for getting me interested in the Trojan International series in the first place.

He definately knows his stuff and has a great service business.

By the way, you will definately get a better service life from the Crusaders. It's a far better quality marinization.

One of my 454's had 2600 hours on it at the time of the refit to diesels.

RWS, Thanks I will contact Roger. They seemed to be fairly large wheels for these engines. The only thing I base that on is my Wellcraft with 330 HP had much smaller 3 blade props. (Not worth a sh!!t docking) Knowing the 11 Meter is much larger, the engines are about the same. I guess if these are factory props they must be making up the difference with a lower gear ratio in the transmission. I was unable to sea trial the boat when I bought it so I don't know if she'll hit max RPM. We'll find out when we splash next month.

Tony, I'd be happy to take some pics of the water pump set up. However it most likely will be awhile. My mechanic has all the batteries (5) uncovered and disconnected with labels like "caution" "danger'and switches marked don't touch so, I'm not going into engine compartment untill all those batteries are re connected. This is a much more serious set up than i'm used to. I had 2 batteries and to covered boxes before simple. Just like a automobile. This with 5 large batteries, genset and inverter it looks more like a power sub station, out of my league.

Black or blue there both good both have there highs and lows . The blue is easier to work on , but I believe the black may have a slight edge on the marine stuff holding up , but its real close both are very well done .and well last a long time . ( taken care of )

a 1000 hours is nothing . its time and abuse thats kills them . Its amazing the people that won't buy a boat cuze it has 7-800 hours on it thinking it worn , I worry about low hour ones more .

given the choice black or blue I would choose ......... the one thats been taken care of .

Despite some of the criticism as to replacement parts costs - I'm quite happy with my GREY.

I might have chosen WHITE but they were too tall.

Tony, I got the 454 crusaders if that will help you. Just redid the impellers yesterday. Peice of cake on the port starboard alittle harder.

I will take the 3 blades over 4 my self

yes grey is better then black or blue , But got to say I will keep my white . they where runing fine today
