7K BTU A/C UNIT

Hey guys,

I have a 7K btu marine a/c unit I'm thinking of installing to cool the helm area of my 11 Meter Express.

The boat has an enclosed bridge/helm area with drop curtains from the radar arch.

There is a/c in the soloon. This additional unit would be stand alone to be used on those hot days trolling.

Good idea... Bad idea... any thoughts on this???

What should I be aware of ect.ect.?

Thanks, Randy

If you're running both units off the same water pump, make sure the pump is rated to deliver enough volume to supply two units or neither unit will operate at thier full potential.

Big D,

Thanks for the heads up, I was planning on using a complete new set up, pump, ducts, ect. I will only run one at a time but it would be nice to know I could run both at once. I'm not sure of the electrical load yet ether. At this point I'm more concerned about installing this as a complete stand alone unit.

Thanks, Randy

Personally, I'd run off the same water pump or replace with one that would handle the volume required. One less hole in the hull, one less seacock, intake, one less circuit to winterize etc etc. I'd keep the current one as a spare part to get you by should the other pump fail and it takes a while to get a replacement.

Randy,
Have you been working on your boat?
I look at it every day when I drive by and I have been seeing a vehicle there next to it once in a while.
You have to be getting pretty pumped up with the good weather right around the corner.

Jerry,

Yea, if you see a little red Audi parked next to it thats me. I've been working a bit on the inside mostly taking measurements for some of the changes I want to make. This cold weather is hurtin my outside efforts they want to launch me April 11th. Since I was the last one in storage(they didn't expect another boat in late nov.) I'm blocking the launch and have to go in first.

We'll have to hook up sometime and introduce ourselfs.

How's that DD overhaul coming??

Randy

Wow,
That is an early launch date for around here. Good luck with getting the outside work done. Hopefully the weather will be mild to help you out a bit.
The rebuild is moving along, although a bit slower than I would like. With what we got done this weekend, hopefully things will begin to move along at a faster pace now. With the way thing had been going, I don't think I was going to get in till August!
I will keep my eyes peeled for you and come introduce myself.
Good luck.
