If it's wood...it's not an F36. The F denotes fiberglass. I'm not sure when Trojan started producing the F series. Early 70s for sure...

Glass hull and wood superstructure perhaps? Seems to be around the right year for the transition from wood to glass.

They made a wood 36 well before the glass F36 , I believe 1971 was the year of change on the sportfish last year of wood anyway the tri was glass in 71 maybe even 70 ?

Not 100% positive on this

If it really is a '71 it will be glass hull. The tri cabin was made from 70-87, early models had wood superstructure and teak decking. The F36 didn't show up until '72 (built until '89), and I don't think it ever had a wood deck (cockpit maybe, but that's about it).

To be a woodie 'sport fish' model (the old Sea Raider or Sea Skiff model lines I think), it would be a '69 or earlier (and look a lot like Big D's boat).

Not impossible... just think '69 is the 'newest' one I have ever seen. Maybe we can get Beacon Bob to pipe in with what he knows?

I will send him a email , there was a common practice by boat dealers an builders years ago where a new boat sitting on a dealers yard was relabeled to current year so a boat made in say 1970 could have been sold as a 1971 or even a 1972 or newer , o that could explain a 1971 wood even if they stopped in 1969

Trojan began phasing out wooden boats in 1969 when Whittaker bought them out. It took them several years, however ...

In 1971 - the only "F" boats were the F-26 and F-31.

In 1972, the fiberglass F-36 was introduced in 2 models:

> F-36 Sport Cruiser

Paul - what did you hear on this boat? Its only 4 hours from here.

If its fiberglass, I may go look at it (maybe I can talk Larry into going with me).

Some websites corrupt the numbers and scramble them...that's why they spell it out. I think to control spam...
