I'm having the bottom redone before launch and its turned out to be quite the project. Even found a hole in the bottom in the recess were the shaft enters the hull! OHHH..

Talk about freaking you out, that was an exciting call when the guy told me he found a quarter sized hole in the bottom that was previously improperly repaired with duraglass. No wonder i had leaking issues last year.

I'm sure glad this is being done. The bottom will be like new again when its complete. All repaired with fiberglass and gelcoat!

Blisters ? not common on you age Trojan . most likely due to improper repair before , or or over aggressive bottom stripping/blasting .

Most of the repairs along the chimes were larger than normal cracks that a dremmel tool was used to grind them back to fill in for repairs.

Only 2 real blisters were found, caused by the gelcoat being nicked. Then the ominous hole by the shaft log. I'm still trying to wrap my head around how that happen in her past life? I can only figure something got wrapped around the saft and banged the bottom. Or in some repair of the shaft it was damaged.

In the long run i'm very happy its getting done and will be 100% solid once finished, with 4 coats of barrier epoxy paint and 2 anti-foul coats. She should be good to go by next weekends launch.
