I am considering the purchase of a 1980 Trojan F32 and am having trouble finding information on this specific model. Are there any owners out there that can give me feedback? Obviously we will have the boat surveyed, but since it is our first boat I'm a little hesitant to buy something so old.

To give a little background, the current owner is the second owner and bought the boat in 1998. He's reparied the generator an Okan 6.5, and claims to have rebuilt the engines which are supposed to have only 200 hours on them. He currently has the gas tanks pulled and is replacing them in the next two weeks.

Barring any major survey issues, are there things I should know about the 1980 Trojan F32 that are anticipated problems?

great boats get a good survey make sure he checks the stringer as some boats have had rotten ones I would have bought one but my F36 came along .

Thank you, are you happy with the F36? Seems like they are a lot more spacious but slower.

very happy with it . liltte more room inside more on the rear deck .
slower ? I don't think so . the f 32s came with small blocks and the f36 came with big blocks . now I am talking about the F36 conv. ( sportfish)
not the tti-cabin.

Have the surveyor check for any delaminated balsa wood in the foredeck and flybridge panels. Also, if your Onan is sea water cooled like my 1980 F-36's was, expect it to become a junk rustball shortly.

I concur - get a reputable surveyor - check references to make sure (I had one "shady" one once - missed a few things).

Good boat ... struts are flimsy but hull is solid. Are you going off shore - or stayng in calmer waters? Be sure and sea tril in the worst possibel conditions you can ... nice ride, but tough in a heavy following sea.

Go smaller or bigger. The F32 is lousy in a following Sea. F36 is a great boat.
I have a 1980 F30 and it is fine in a following sea. as good as it is if I were a bit younger I would be looking for a f36 or the newer version of the 36 !988 vintage

When you say a flowing sea do you mean 1-3 ,,, 2-6?? Let me know.. What are the symptoms in this kind of chop... rolling around?? or a hard ride??

Rolling around ..can be a handful in a 3-4' following sea. Must keep the tabs up, keep speed up, stay onthe wheel and throttles, and no one up top.
