Vibration - Check List?

Last time boat was out - I dont remember as much vibration as I am getting now.

What would be a check list to kind of go through first so I can figure out how to pinpoint vibration source? (I know.. could be a 1000 things)

If I eyeball my rudders - they look a little off but I cannot believe that having a rudder that much off will make that big of a difference.

Vibration feels strongest towards the rear like it may be the rudders though or is the area any rudder, shaft or alignment issue would manifest itself?

I have asked my mechanic about doing an shaft/engine alignment - he did not seem real thrilled about that. Maybe he can at least get some measurements at the coupler to see if that is the cause. Underway I looked at the couplings and did not see anything out of sorts (as I sipped on a cocktail...so not much value there)

I love boat ownership. Something new every weekend.

dollar,

if the vibration just started and wasnt there the last outing, do you have growth or something wrapped around the a prop?

Boat is in a fresh water lake

Props look and feel good while I was swimming around. I will try to get a tad bit more adventurous this weekend and swim around with a a mask.. but initial review.. no dings, no growth and the edges feel good.

doesn't need to be ding on prop to vibrate, they will get out of pitch, but check for dings too. or cutlass bearings. should be no play whatsoeer when you lift up and down.

same thing happened to me. I did the props and cutlass bearings-- vibration gone. there were no dings on the props. one prop was not positioned right and the shaft key was forward of the prop-that couild have been it. it was installed wrong by previous owner i assume.
