This is my first season with my new to me 1982 Trojan 10 meter express and it's my first large boat.

My fresh water absolutely REEKS! and it just started happening.

How do I drain the tank and clean the system?

I have well water at my marina and it has a rotten egg odor.....I add about 1/2 cup bleach each time I fill my 30 gallon tank. I do NOT use this water for drinking, cooking or coffee.....I do use it for dishes. If you smell the bleach then you probably added to much. You might use a higher concentration initially, pump it into all lines, let it set a day or so and then flush it good.......that should take care of the odor..........John[/i]

My fresh water system also reeked horribly when I bought the boat. I drop a one-inch chlorine tablet into the tank upon filling. I buy them from pool suppliers. I also do not use the water for consumption. I do use it for washing and showering, once the stench was gone.

When I first got the boat I ran two complete tanks of water overboard with all fixtures open. This helped a lot to reduce the rotten smell from the water. Flushing your system and adding a little bleach or chlorine should do the trick.

we do the bleach thing 2 or 3 times a year, followed with a vinegar rinse.

Make sure you let it remain in ALL the lines for several hours or overnight.

First of all welcome to the forum. I subscribe to the bleach treatment a couple times a year as needed.
