ROCK HALL RENDEZVOUS --- FROM TRI CABIN AARON

Post by aaronbocknek »

i wish i could attend this years function but the gods of crew scheduling have other plans for me. i know it's going to be a good event. i would, however, like to mention that my neighbors from parkside marina will be there as will another boat from parkside, wild cherry. anyway, mike and cathy kulp own a 1986 10 meter and she is, hands down, one of the finest examples of a well cared for and lovingly restored vessel. (they have loved her for 10 years now).

guys, you have to take a tour of mikes engine room.... AMAZING!!! (HINT*** TAKE A LOOK AT HIS ENGINE WATER STRAINERS. POWDER COATED AND CLEAR COATED,WITH SIGHT GLASSES YOU COULD EAT FROM!!)
the cockpit custom vinyl seat cushions were done by ss canvas down the street from us. if you all are looking for ideas, this is the idea boat to see.
i have absorbed so much knowledg having this couple next to me it's astounding. they are great people and i'm proud to call them friends and neighbors. our boats side by side represent the 'maroon' period that trojan loved in the 1980's.

enjoy the weekend folks, i wish i could be there, but mike and cathy and wild cherry will represent all of us from parkside in middle river.

regards.

Sorry to hear you can't attend the festivities.   I was wondering if you would make it or not. I am trying to make Rock Hall and Solomons also.

Hey Aaron don't brag up my engine room to much, what if dirt gets in my sea strainers on the way over. I will have to take them apart and clean them before everybody gets there. You know how things like that bother Cathy and me.

schmutz in your sea strainers? UNACCEPTABLE mike. if i know you and cathy, and believe me, having been beside you for almost 3 seasons now, i have a feeling that just before you dock in rock hall you will shut down everything and inspect the sight glasses. if, god forbid, schmutz gets in there i KNOW you will clean them out before you arrive. the two of you would not have it any other way which is why i adore the both of you. and don't think that i won't reposition my starboard intake hose on weds when my duty period ends. i told phil about that last evening and he just laughed. glad you all liked the 'offical' beverage of ENTERPRISE. (in case you fellow trojaners are wondering, i've discoverd the most amazing adult boat beverage.... ginger beer and genuine pusser's rum. mike and i were enjoying it on saturday while discussing the rendezvous). i will hold down our side of the marina while the two of you are gone for the weekend. i'm so torqued i cannot go you have no idea.

(i'm # 7 on the call out list today.... no boat stuff for me)

You will have to stop at Parkside Marine in Middle River to 'oogle over' the S.S. Peir Sitter cause it won't make it to Rock Hall! J/K Aaron

I was thinking of auctioning off his 'Trojan' rug for gas money but its going to be tough to do now that he has hired a guard for the boat! Right Mike?

okay boys be nice. mike, you did see the interior teak work i did during the winter?
it's not so much burning the fuel, it's getting the dough together to get her over to sue island marina and getting her hauled and the port prop removed and the bent blades fixed. in addition to that, because of the vibration running from the point of impact back to parkside in october, the port V strut needs to be rebedded. so, if any of you guys want to dontate to the 'lets get the tri cabin hauled and fixed fund', i'll be glad to provide the pusser's navy rum and a few laughs abount working with the flying public. i also need a few hands onboard to assist me getting her from parkside to sue island.
just a suggestion......

tony tony tony...... believe me, if the port prop were not damaged, she would be out of the slip. as for the rendezvous, i am off thurs/fri/sat, but not on sunday and phils schedule is all over the map. when the july lines of flying came out for bid, (we bid our schedules on a month to month basis) i did indeed try to get the time off for the rock hall event. even after 15 years, my seniority will not allow me to 'hold' a full weekend off. no wonder our sick call count this year is through the roof.
