All went rather smoothly and thanks to Playtex latex gloves not too bad.

Now I have to hook up my switch. My old set up was where the power and switch ran through the internal electrical system. Power to the pump was the same.. Red/Red - Black/Black but the new momentary flush switch has 2 Pos/Red cables and my old switch had 1 Red and 1 Brown.

I would rather use the new switch because it has a fuse (extra protection) and it has a timer function... but not sure if I can connect the existing brown wire to the other red lead. I did not have a test light to see what current is running to the brown wire.

I know its basic stuff here...

If I understand your set up correctly, the new switch will have 2 red wires only? If so, then it's used as a series lead on one leg only. Basically hook up your ground as you normally would, then take the other 12 volt feed and hook to either red on new switch, then the other red from switch, to motor. This way, the switch is always open (no contact) then when depressed, it closes (Contact) and feed power to motor.

I assume this may have been the same as your old switch with the red and brown wires. It shouldn't matter which wire you hook to which...
