Hi folks,
I need to repack my stuffing boxes and was wondering if anyone knew what size packing I need. The shaft is 1.25 in. I saw another post that I believe said 5/8 in. This is for a 10m mid-cabin.
Thanks,
Teejae

yep, 1/4" and highly recommend the gore-tex packing, it's virtually drip free and shaft temps are right around the water temp.

1/4 Gore tex is what I used to use before I switched over to dripless seals.

Installed a LasDrop drip-less seal 10 years ago and haven't had to touch it since.

Well - all done. I did it while in the water, which was a but nervous making at first, but then I wrapped teflon tape around the shaft a few times and completely stopped the flow of water. It definitely beat wrapping a cloth around.
Thanks for all the advice. Dripless are probably in my future at some point, but I'm happy to have bought a while until then.
