Paul I was wonderign here , my wife loves the inside cabin area of your boat and I was just curious , what product did you utilize to cover up the dark wood grained sticker that covers most of the original cabin? She brought home a textured heavy grade white wallpaper that can be painted once applied rather then remeasuring and cutting new wall board. And was wondering what the purpose of the vent under the galley table was used for ? lastly the trim work around the side windows originnaly was again the sticker wood grain , what did you use in this area to finish it off? thanks for any input

We didn't like the look of the dark walnut Formica that the boat was originally assembled with so we removed all of the panels that we could, including around the windows, and refaced them with white Formica. This was fairly inexpensive and easy to do. The panels that we couldn't remove were a little more difficult.

To do this on the panels that we removed, we first cleaned and scuffed the existing Formica. Then using contact cement we first covered the edges and then the face leaving a bit of Formica overhanging the edges. Next we cleaned up the edges with a laminate trimmer then re-installed the panels.

We covered the other panels in place however we couldn't use the laminate trimmer on most of them so we had to pre-cut the Formica pieces to size and place them very carefully.

If you choose to do it this way, you can find lots of info on using Formica on the net. I have also seen these panels painted with Melamine paint which also looks good but it can chip fairly easily.

The vent under the dinette table is for the AC.

Thanks for the input and sorry I didnt look close enough for a last name when posting this but figured how many Pauls were on this site that had covered up the old dark paneling and had a vent under the galley table.
We plan on doing the same to ours , but I will probably make up some story about the vent if you dontmind. I tell the wife thats an ac vent she'll expect no less then ac in ours. we'll just say thats where there was some wood rot and this was how he covered it up thanks again...
