Check your oil cooler for blockage. Just cleaned mine last weekend with descaler and temp dropped 20deg.

Fresh or raw water cooled,,
Im chasing same problam , I think I found the problam in the risers, , mine would over heat slowly after getting on plane, coupled with slight loss of atifreez after pulling manifolds and risers the risers are severly rusted,, I have fresh water manifolds, that seem to be ok,

1st and foremost I would verify the reading with an ir gun, first make sure there really is a problem then start the diagnostics. The 2nd I would do is back flush the engine for debris, tranny cooler etc as it says above. These are cheap and easy places to start.

yesterday i checked the front of the trans cooler and it was clear then i pulled the heat exchanger end caps and the tubes were 50% cloged with a slime like goo all most like a jelly fish got sucked in witch i cant see happining cuz the raw water strianer was clean any way i cleaned the tubes with a long thin wire brush took her out for a spin and never went above 170 i wish i knew what the goo was
