i am trying to find out about these engines. i have not had a diesel boat before and am considering one that has these engines. they would be year 1990 Detroit Diesel(GM) 8.2 Turbo Diesel Engines 300HP supposedly have about 580 hours. i know any engine not kept up can be junk but in general are these good engines? pros and cons any expereinces, parts availability with them, and any thoughts you may have
thanks

The base engine is good the marine stuff could be better , had issues with the early ones with head bolts then when to a larger size . not sure what year . parts can be hard to get from what I heard . But many owners swear by them . would not be my top choice .
If your even thinking about a diesel join boatdiesel . com ( 25 bucks ) worth every penny .
