I'm going to try to do this myself. I'm sure I will have a ton of questions! The engine is seized I will drain oil see what I can gain from that before I bother trying to free the pistons.

Now please tell me how to post my before pics and I will start the show!

Or........if you use photo bucket, just click on the IMG code under the photo (last option) and it copies it all for you and you don't have to do any coding on here yourself. All you have to do is click on it, it automatically copies the code to your clipboard and the box tells you it did that.

Good luck I am working on F28 for 2 yrs, obviously intermittantly. I have two 318s, that run with 900 hours unfortunately the normal rotation engine has a freeze crack block, Reverse rotation is okay and just needs freeze plugs. The auto 318 blocks are the same, internals are different and use brass freeze plugs. May be better to start with another block etc.

Good luck, my goal is in the water by late winter or early spring.

I am not sure but I believe that the 383 is a much bigger block that eventually became the 413, 426 and 440 and is not the small block. Bell housing might fit but flywheel, manifolds etc might not. Someone on the site will know for sure. See:

BTW I have two sets of marine exhaust manifolds and risers surplus as well as 2 318 bell housings, flywheels, shock plate, intake manifolds etc.

I will need to dispose of them.

The 383 is a big block.

The 383 may fit it the boat but none of the bolt ons will , I believe the belhousing is the same .

The 383 is a big block and basically the same as the 413 and 440 just slightly lower

I like the 318 from what i have read, gonna try to get her up and running.

I may be able to help you with that disposal...let me see what she looks like when i actually have her at home!
