Hello all. I just joined your forum and am glad there is a forum for Trojan boats. I do a lot of older car restorations and forums are a great place to learn and meet some new people.
I am considering purchasing a 1977 F30 "Clean machine". It seems like it is in fairly good shape and includes an I-beam 10k# trailer. Brand new full encosed canvas over bridge down to the deck. Engines are 350mercs (hours unknown). I can get it for 5k.
Question is, what are the trouble areas I should look for? Is 5k a good price? I figure the trailer is worth at least 3k... Also, any reviews on this boat?
Any info would be helpful. Thanks.

5K may be OK for the purchase....
A bigger question is how much are you prepared to put into it over the next 3yrs... 2-3 times that amount
If that thought scares you then in fact it is not a good deal

Welcome aboard and if you decide to purchase the boat, I am sure you will find a lot of help here.
I would have a survey done before you purchase the boat since that will let you know all of the problem areas that exist. At least then you can evaluate whether the 5K is a good deal or not and what you are in for financially.
Good luck and please keep us updated.

Either the current owner doesn't really understand what he has or is super-desperate and is just giving it away, or it isn't in as good a condition as you think it is. The trailer is probably worth 2-3K itself. The new canvas job was probably 2-3K as well. Buyer beware!
I would recommend a survey as well, and if it IS good, and it DOES work out, you may just get one heck of a deal!
