Thought I better introduce myself & say "hi" to all.
I have spent the last 18 years as a charter captain on Lake Michigan. Due to my dads health I sold my charter boat & came home to take over the family grain farm. No. My charter boat was not a Trojan, but a 1984 35 Egg Harbor Sportfisher. Last summer I was boat-less & missed the water. I ended up buying an F28 in june & have been enjoying her since. My first boat I ever bought in 1992 was an 1980 F26 that scared the holy hell out of me. A hard to port(bow steer) in 6 foot caps with 4 customers aboard sealed the fate of that boat. It went on the hard & sold that fall to buy my old Egg.
I really enjoy this forum & look forward to helping other Trojan owners out because I'm sure I will need some questions answered myself. I will try to post some pics of the F28 & a few of my other boats, if you guys don't mind Egg Harbors?

Welcome, been to egg harbor and the vicinity of Sturgeon Bay many times but always on the Hard.
Cannot really get there from here in Texas but have fond memories of the area.

This bow steer thing is really freaking me out guys! Does it just all of a sudden happen? Is there a reason?

Happens when the bow is too low , not all f 25/6 owners have a issue with it ( not sure if it was the 25 or 26 ) ( most don't) if it was to happen just pull back on the throttle .
If you have it happen on yours , there are things to stop it less weight in the bow NO trim tab use at or near WOT . (Wide Open Throttle)
Won't happen at cruse , unless tabs are full down and this goes for all boats
And a F25-F26 has no need being out in 6 foot waves ( along with my F36)

I don't intend to find out if my tank can handle big waves- on my last boat it went 45 knots so if I saw bad weather I could zip in but I will keep in mind that my Trojan has a LOT less zip. Going from a Ninja to a Harley

Paul, With all do respect don't take me wrong here. From May 1st to Oct 1 first, I would spend on average of 65+ hours a week on the water fishing. We all know the more time spent on the water increases your chances of being caught in storms.
That night running in with my F26, I made a poor choice & should have pulled the plug a lot earlier on the charter than I did. Two storm cells popped up out of know where producing 40+ mph winds, I was caught! We all made it back safe, that's key. Charter fishing for a living isn't what its all cracked up to be, dealing with weather, fog & rough seas suck. You have to fish in less than perfect conditions, other wise you won't make much of a living. Hard to tell your clients were not going fishing today because of the rough seas, when they see 15 other boats pulling out of harbor. That's why my weapon of choice was an Egg Harbor.
Now days anything over 2 footers, I poor myself another tottie & stay in the slip. The fish will be there tomorrow.

We all get caught out there , Just making a piont that you don't want to head out in 6 foot waves . winter fishing here we use mostly use 2 boats mine and a 45 Viking , if its 6 footers both boats stay at the dock .
