Jabsco manual toilet woes

Mamma (the Admiral) ain't happy. She had to break out the Wagg Bag last weekend to use the head. Seems my toilet will not draw any water in to the bowl. No amount of fast and furious or slow and deliberate plunging of the pump handle would get water to flow into the bowl. It would evacuate water I poured into it quite readily. What could be the matter??? And yes I have plenty of fresh water in the tank. I have not used the head in many months prior to now, so could the water in the lines have dried up and lost their "prime" so to speak?
Please help!

Is the bowl empty? If so put some water in it and try about 1/2 cup of vegetable oil in the bowl prior to pumping. I do this periodically in my manual headmate head and it seems to work good......instructions with the head suggest this procedure............if that doesn't help it may be time for a rebuild, easy job......John

Roy? That has happened to me several times. Take out the phillips screws holding the handle together and look down there. I have had plants and all sorts of crap sucked in from our polluted river. The black gasket at the top of the handle gets wore out too. West marine sells the whole rebuilt kit for like $30.00
I found out about my gasket because it was spraying my customers with a tiny little bit of water upwards as they use the toilet and then pump to flush it. Freaking funny as hell!!!!
