Looking at an F36

So I have posted in the past, prior to looking at a 1977 F32. After seeing that boat, I came to realize the 32 was a bit too small in the cockpit area. My search has centered around Silvertons, with a few Pacemakers, Egg Harbors and CCs thrown in. I did however come across a 1975 F36 that sounds as though it may fit what I'm looking for.

The boat is being listed and sold by a friend of the owner. He claims it could be a 1973-1976, but is unsure of the year. He stated twin FWC Chryslers, and when I asked if they were big blocks, he replied "yeah, big blocks". I questions about hours, genset, A/C but he was unsure on all of this. He mentioned upwards of $9000 was spent in the past 8 months on the motors ($9000 is closing in on repower amounts of money, speaking in terms of carbed gas engines). No canvas but the framework is in place. I questioned core rot, on the deck, gunnels, bridge floor and was told it is solid.

He did state the aft deck needs some plywood fixed. I know the older F36 at my club has teak decks (is it teak, or another kind of wood?). He described the layout of the boat all wrong, but that doesn't concern me.

My questions would be.

What engine options did 1973-1976 F36s have? T/440s, possibly 360s?
What differences am I looking at in a 1973 verse a 1976 boat, other than it being newer? The head had a seperate shower after 1978, correct?
I know all about checking things like decks, stringers, etc... but are fuel tanks issues on these boats?

Thanks in advance guys. The price is rock bottom, and I am looking for a boat I can use but "fix up" and make it my own. I did similar with my Cruisers, it had been sitting for 5 years before my purchase, and I have been using it the last two with lots of fun bringing her back to looking and working good.

Most of the early F36 convertibles had the 440s (330hp ) a few had 383 or 400 cid ( 380hp) and a rare one smaller engines later years had the 454 and some had diesels . Of course in a 30-35 yo boat things could have been changed .

The separate shower stall happened in 1977 sometime I have that set up in my 77

Thanks guys. Now I assume the 440s aren't impossible to get replacement parts for. What about the 383s and 400s?

No worry most of the bolt on stuff is the same , exhust / pumps etc are the same on the 440 /400/383 .

At Paul's request, I resized these images to be a little more legible.

I have other years as well, but not a complete set.

Love to have 1967, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1978, all 1980's & all 1990's

Thanks for the info, sadly the boat sold before I got a chance to look at it. Onto the next one, but good to keep adding to the knowledge base of boat/boating info.

That one isn't bad, but the price is higher than where I'm looking. I'm looking more for a project to update the way I want, while being able to use it.
