Windlass Mount

I need to replace the wood, it seems to be some sort of laminated teak plywood, under the windlass on my 1985 10 meter. I’m not sure what to use, the piece is pretty big approx. 20” x 34” x ½” thick. It has an irregular shape to it. Would a drawing still be available for this part, would save a lot of time? If a drawing is not available I will have to make a pattern. The cost of teak in that size is crazy, I was thinking on making it out of Starboard, it is completely supported. Is there a better material?

Are you speaking about the Bow Pulpit? Ah, I see what you're talking about now...
Check out this picture in this thread.

Looks like an inlay of teak but hang tight, RWS should be along and give ya his recommendation. He's probably redone his.

RWS, Stripermann2 mentioned you may have done this.

I have not done anything more than to install a windlass (Horizon Free Fall 600? or 700? ) in an identical bow pulpit with the same teak inlay as yours has.

I think my own balsa may be compromised and someday I will remopve my bow pulpit and redo the darn thing.

Perhaps someone else will "walk the plank" on this project first ands share the details with all of us?
