1986 trojan 10 meter mid-cabin cutlass bearings

Post by robingrenada »

Hi

Can anyone tell me the size of the cutlass bearings in the prop shaft struts on my '86 10m mid-cabin express. Advice on how to change a worn bearing would also be appreciated.

Thanks

the bearing size is fairly standard based on shaft diameter, the shaft diameter will be the I.D. of the new cutlass bearing. grind all the old bottom paint off your struts and you will find set screws holding the bearing in place. you need to pull your shafts to remove and install new bearings, you can use a race driver or a deep socket to drive out old and in new

The shafts on my 1982 International were 1 1/4" before we did the repower.

The boat had two struts per side.

Midcabin models have the engines farther aft resulting in shorter shafts. There may be only one strut on the midcabin models, not sure, however you probably have 1 1/4" shafts.
