Removing engine on Trojan 10 Meter

Post by Unchained »

I’m going to pull the starboard 454 engine and trans assembly out of my 1987 Trojan 10 Meter to have it rebuilt and was wondering if there are any tips anyone can offer or maybe some things I should look out for ahead of time. It looks like a tight fit coming out and not sure there is enough room on the height with the arch directly overhead. Just looking to save myself some grief if someone has been down this road before.
Thanks, Mike

Is this an express or sedan? I only ask because my friend had an '86 sedan and there was a lot to remove getting engines out.

I think an express would be much easier though...

RWS removed his engines to replace with diesels.
He can advise on the removal procedure. Good luck with the project!

Forklift at boatyard or a cherrypicker boom truck. Also a chainfall to get clearence, have not pulled mine out (10 meter mc) but have seen it done this way. I just removed my genny this weekend, that is a tight fit out the rear hatch!! Also heavier than I thought (420 lbs.)
