Where did you find it?

From what I understand, in Nov. of 1972 the government standardized boat HIN's. Before that, all manufacturers had there own way of doing things. Mine is 231-2061 but the state of Maryland gave the boat a new HIN number that is on the title. It starts with MDZ and ends with 72. I guess MDZ stands for Maryland assigned and 72 stands for 1972 the year of the boat.

I located the original HIN on a plaque in the head where you access the guages.

What do you do for the hin's that do not have an alpha designation but instead are numerical...I have a '76 32' Sportfisherman. Is this considered an F32? Or does it have some other designation?

Thanks,
Neale
