Trojan Boat Forum

Hi all, I've been lurking in the shadows for a while and decided to join this great site. The support and civilized behavior of all of you, as well as the "stepping up to the plate" that I just witnessed decided it for me. Kudo's to you all. I don't have my credit card right now or I would contribute this minute. I have owned in the past, a 1965 36 Trojan FB sedan as well as a 1976 Tri Fly. I am presently in the market for a late 80's tri cabin. I think I've found the boat I want. I will have many questions for you in the not too distant future. Thanks in advance for any advice I may need.

Hi Aaron, Not that one...don't care for the last model year layout as much.
Don't want to let the cat out of the bag yet but it is a 1985 model in exceptional condition. Your a smart guy, I'm sure you can figure it out. One more hint...it has an aluminum arch and looks like yours. Thats all i'm gonna say 'till I get a contract on it. Thanks for the welcome

One of the most important things when shopping is to make sure you are looking at the kind of boat that will satisfy how you intend to use it. The great thing about Trojan is that they made so many different models that serve so many different boating styles - day tripping, cruising, fishing, protected and white water, and live-aboard - and they are all kick-ass when it comes to doing the job they were designed for.

Another key thing is making sure you know what you are getting into before you put your money down (ie get survey and mechanical inspection), but as a multi-previous owner I am sure you already understand that.

As Vice Commodore this year one of my duties is planning the Yacht Clubs' summer cruises and I'm thinking of the Solomons. Any recommendations?

RB , been to the Solomons a few times Great Place to go .

Heres some marinas I highly can recommend

Zahnisers marina ( http://zahnisers.com/ )
Nice place with a great and helpful staff . great restaurant Make reservations a week or more in advance or sit at the bar like our group did (4 boats all Trojan) close to museum on other stuff . Pool has a bar so you can get Drinks and light food at the Pool . Been there would go back


Spring cove ( http://springcovemarina.com/ )
Great pool nice grounds with shade a picnic areas ,also close to the museum and other Solomons stuff . I will be going there again this year most likely Had a restaurant but it closed ( maybe back open I will check)Been there and like it .and going back

Calvert marina ( http://calvertmarina.com/ )Have not stayed here but have seen it and gotten fuel there heard good things
For a large group the Calvert marina maybe be a good choice and the cheapest , 2 places to eat Pool some new floating docks very large marina . The one negative thingit is a cross the creak from the main Solomons stuff like the Museum , but its only a short row across and the museum has a dingy dock .

Other I have seen but know little about

make at least a good days run out of it RB, Look in Jamie's place it's a blast..great food, BAR ! and beach and D Dock.....
