Alexander38, I never even thought twice about the grade of aluminum?!?!?! Did a google search and couldnt believe the amount of grades! I called the place I purchased it from and found out the round tubing was 6053
6063
This grade is commonly referred to as the architectural alloy. It was developed as an extrusion alloy with relatively high tensile properties, excellent finishing characteristics and a high degree of resistance to corrosion. This alloy is most often found in various interior and exterior architectural applications, such as windows, doors, store fronts and assorted trim items. It is the alloy best suited for anodizing applications - either plain or in a variety of colors.
I believe this will work fine for the deck supports. I didnt even ask about the 1/2 angle. I figure its 10x better than what I took out.

Well the big kit of west system epoxy came in on friday and after working on the boat the last two nights I made alittle more progress. the transom is alot stronger than before with almost no flex. I decided to add a layer of 24oz roving between the stringers where the engines sit. I did this because we had to do alot of grinding in these areas and I wanted to be sure they were at factory thickness or better.

Todd,
speaking for more than myself here, I think everyone benefits when members share thier "stuff:" on line on th eforum,, especially when photos and details arew involved.
These kind of things are more than informative, they can be motovational and inspiring top oithers, especially the LURKERS out there who look in on us, but rarely if ever post.
Just a BIG THANKS !

Thanks Guys I appreciate it! Also wanted to thank Jim from "illinois". Not sure if jim is a member of the site or not but he tracked me down and left a message on my phone. He said he saw my boat on the site and had a 1988 10 meter mid cabin and had some questions. I spent over 1hr on the phone with him today talking about our boats. He gave me some good leads for pricing out a hardtop. (I requested a quote from one company today! fingers are crossed that its not crazy!) It amazes me how much of a great bunch of people "boaters" are, especially us "orphaned" (as I believe RWS put it) boaters who no longer have a company to call to get all the answers. Thanks Again!
Things should be getting more interesting soon. I've started Shopping!!!
