Forward head replacement

The forward head in my tri-cabin is a piece of S***. It was not hooked up correctly, and smelled bad last year because of permentation.

My plan is to put in a new holding tank and do it right. The current situation has no ability to pump over the side, even though there is a macerator pump in place, it is not hooked up to the tank! There was no vent either on the tank, or should I say it just looped around onto itself.

In any case I have drawn out my plan, but I was wondering on my choice of head.

I am looking at the Raritan Marine Elegance line. My choice though is to either stay with the sea water version, since the current head uses sea water, of cap off that inlet and go the pressurized water route.

We don't use it that much, as our marina has nice facilities that we use most of the time when at the dock.

Any ideas?

The aft cabin head doesn't even function at this point. The few months last year when I had the boat I didn't attempt to see why that aft head doesn't flush. I think it is fresh water - but there is no holding tank back there and the aft outlet connection on deck has no hose going to it - so I figure they never used it. Looks like it would empty into the forward holding tank bu that is an awful long run. That will be another project later in the year perhaps - right now my main concern is the forwward head.

Any ideas/suggestions would be most helpful.

Thanks for your support! John

Just one thought , I don't recommend using sea water at all , the is the quickest way , to make the system smell . i converted mine to fresh . Best single thing I have done to the boat other then removing the recirculating head .

pehaps others that know the tri-cabin better have some ideas .

now not knowing where your aft tank should be, I'll tell you what I did then the tri-guys can help you out more.

both my heads needed work on BAD the boat smelt of well we all know the smell.
Fwd head, over haul the Crown unit both ends of it and replaced the Duck bill and all the hoses ran a new and bigger vent line and removed the tank and cleaned it out with bleach and dawn soap
Aft head the same.
Now for the pump outs ran new lines for them two, but pump out is kind of a bad name it should be suck out, from my tanks I put in a 3 way valve so I can go to the vacuum fitting on the main deck or to a maceration pump to a thru hull..

as far flush goes that's on my list this year, going to plum fresh water in to them, ez enough to do my sea-cock is in the engine room as well as fresh water lines, I'll have to install a back-flow preventer in to the line and a isolation valve into in system and should be good to go.. and don't go cheap on the hose go top $ and you'll be happier knowing you want have to replace them for yrs, also we flush a little white vinegar every time we let the boat set for awhile, it'll cut down on the scale in the hose's and fresh water flush will cut down on the smell....

I have a 18 gallon holding tank mounted inside the bunk next to the fuel tank. This location is very close to the head, so not much of a run (maybe 3-4 feet). Any questions let me know, I did new heads over the last coulpe of years. For the forward head I have the same 18 gallon tank in tne (cellar) between the stairs and the bilge (2-3) feet of hose.
