As you all know, the darn hands and I love to winter fish. Amanda and I agree that this boat must be equipped with cabin and helm heat. Helm for the hands, stupid as it sounds but we are thinking blowers for heat in the helm. I know I have to have a generator to get heat, but what are my options here, need custom ideas here. I can take air from motor but don't want fumes. I know this sounds crazy but I'm sure it's been done before. And no I don't want a heat pad fore my hands, I want hot air, I need access to hot blown air while under way..
Thanks for realistic ideas guys!!

Jeff, there are heater cores used in marine apps available on the market. You`d use the hot coolant from your engine piped into the core, and the blowers in the unit dissipate the hot air. Ducting is used to direct the hot air where ever you want it to a vent just like AC. As long as the engine is hot, you`ll have heat.

That sounds like what I want while under way, but what if I need it at the dock, just have boat running? I would
Ike a heat system period, I know I wasn't clear about this sorry but cheaper is better and I am looking for a generator so I know that helps

Jeff I use these in the back of my FedEx ground trucks ,they use coolant. As for the dock I'd say run the engine for heat or your going to need a heat pump

At the dock you can run a electric heater , I like the west marine ones as the site low and would be hard to tip over . If you do have a generator then it can be used under way . Thats what I use on the bridge.

The heaters tony is talking about would be great under way , and a lot cheaper then installing a gen set for sure. use one under way and a electric at the dock .

I would install a 12,,000 or 16,000 BTU HVAC unit. It will provide cooling in the warm months for the cabin and heat when run in reverse cycle. They are not cheap. but for about $1600 you can install one yourself as you are pretty handy. You can run it off the genny while out at sea and run off shore power at the dock.

I have a Mr Heater Big Buddy propane unit that is safe for indoor use. It's amazing. Puts out tons of heat and doesn't burn that much propane at all. One tank per winter. I use the optional hose and hook it up to a grill size propane bottle. Works great!

Hey Jeff I have a 16,000 btu lunair heat/ac pump that I took out of my 10 meter that you can have for free if you want to pay for the shipping but before you get to excited I already gave the controls to somebody on this site and the unit pulls a lot of amps possibly compressor going bad but it did work when I removed from the boat.

It is self contained but will need water pump and hose to bring water in and out. draws about 15 amps 120 volts and a control panel. I can not remember who I sent it to they were from this site and had a international series. I think they were from virgina and they were not sure if they could use the controls. If you are interested let me know and I will research it.

there's a couple of them, but the duel fan one will heat up a FexEx ground truck in about 15 mins and run you out of it in 30...
