Restoration after galley fire

The fire was confined to about a 3' x 3' area in the galley. I've removed the old galley and bulkhead between the salon and aft stateroom now. This weekend I got the hot water heater and decking under it out as well and have exposed this area down to the hull. This area, directly below the fire, has some delamination in the fiberglass. My neighbour is a marine surveyor, a rather negative one in my opinion, and told me not to waste my time restoring my boat. He said that unless the fiberglass was made with a fire retardant additive that I would have to cut out the entire section of the hull. I did a search and believe that Uniflite and Trojan were using a fire retardant in their fiberglass. Can anybody confirm this for me?
Thanks,
Doug
