Just a friendly reminder...

To please check your boat thoroughly this spring when commissioning after lay-up. Sometimes we get rushed into the weather and something goes wrong...
This is one of two boats which burned up this morning, three marinas up the creek from me. Not sure of the cause but one of them was a diesel boat and it's suspected it started from an electrical issue. May know more later.

Great reminder.
"When you start boating, you have two buckets. One for luck (nearly full), and one for knowledge (closer to empty). As the level in the luck bucket drops, make sure you're filling the second bucket at a corresponding rate. Not good to have both buckets empty."

I think the highest percentage/cause of boat fires are electrical related. I can't stress enough when wiring, to do it right.

Jamie, keep us posted if you find out anything K? Knowing the cause always helps the rest of us in learning what measures to take to prevent that from happening to any of our pride and joys.

My friend's 36 Hatteras with twin Cat 425s burned last summer. 120V electrical fire in the wall. Boat was repowered and rewired around 1997. AC wiring was suspect, but no firm evidence.

Worldwide same issues - unfortunately.
Here in northern Germany on last friday, I hate to see that:

even worst, my neighbours boat, either at dock or on the hard goes up in flames and takes mine with it.
