Hello, I wondering If any of you can give me an Idea on how much my Trojan might be worth in realistic numbers. Im going to try and sell her in Hampton Bays New York In about two weeks.

Its a 1981 F308 with dual stations, twin 288 chev engins(gas) , New upper and lower canvas, engins and trans run well. 4 gas tanks and uses lots of gas as you's know. 13.6 beam. She is in decent shape but not like alot of your boat pictures. No rot any where but does need beauty care to make her look really great. And ive got the trailor that pulls her on land too. I pulled her from Utah to Ny about 4 years ago.

I do need some help on what she might be worth High and low ...

when I get their I will take pictures but dont have them here and will be in NY in about 5 days. Thanks GaryGa

Freshwater boats are worth more, but it really depends on condition, so pictures will help a lot.

This is a page from the trojan book I am writing. This is a 308. Looks a little tall to be towing it around with the bridge still attached.

13.6 beam, I think that's a bit optimistic. Selling a boat is tough. Ive been trying for 6-7 months now.

First look at comparables. Here are a few:

http://baltimore.craigslist.org/boa/2892001971.html

http://austin.craigslist.org/boa/2915018461.html

http://greenbay.craigslist.org/boa/2957685660.html

Not much help there so look at Nada. It ranges from 14 to 19k with the features I thought you might have. Nada does indeed list it as an F30 flybridge sedan 308.

Then decide what do you want to get for it? How much did you pay for it. Have you made significant improvesments/upgrades. You can expect to get very little from these and nothing from maintenance or refurbishments(ie maintenance that is way overdue!!).

You must decide whether you want to sell her rather quickly or get the most you can for her. Somewhere along that continuum is a price point that will sell your boat. Whether it sells this month, this year, this decade depends in part on your selling price. Remember you can always come down after a month or two of little interest or no real offers.

Most importantly, remember YOU ARE SELLING your boat. It never fails to amaze me when people post ads of thier boat (house, car...) boasting what great condition and how clean it is. Then in the pictures you see a dirty stained boat with junk and clutter everywhere. You need to take lots of high resolution, bright-use a flash, flattering photos of your boat. Make sure all the clutter is removed or stowed and you take tons of pics of everything and I mean everything. Make sure the hatchway is clean when posting pics of the engine. The fridge clean and odor free.

Then post these on your ad. You can put as many as you like on Craigslist as long as they are embedded in your ad. See mine on the next post. The pics are gonna sell your boat more than anything. Someone is gonna have to fall in love with it to buy it. And love at first sight is a myth. Use Keywords too, so your ad pops up on searches for other brands.

Write your ad on a rich text or notepad file and save to your documents. Then you can copy and paste in the body of your Craigslist ad.
