i heard that. i know these mount bolts have been changes before i owned the boat. some are stainless some are rusted out. some are 5 inch and 2 were 4 inch. i only have excisting holes on the inside stingers. i put in new outside stringers. those will have new fresh holes. i agree with going wider on the excisting bolt holes. might do that. the install was put off untill 10 am tuesday. the marina got busy today.

Luckly I only have 1 enngine to deal with. My bolts were so rusted 3 of them broke. The wood is good shape, how I dont know. I just thought I would clean up the holes and cut into newer fresher wood with a larger diameter but same length. Probly dont have to but makes me feel safer after seeing what came out

i was wondering if wider bolts would fit through the mounts. i think they are 3/8's bolts. not sure the mount holes are large enough for the next size bolt..?

you are correct! I just checked mine. Sure am glad we had this talk before I cleaned up my holes. One of my old mount bolts fits pretty good through the mount hole. a little bit of wobble. If there is clearance its not much! But maybe just enough for the next size up.
