A large problem here that needs alls help if you have an idea. after a yr of restoring my 10.8 I am down to the toilet. Original equipment was the totally expensive vacuum flush toilet. like 5000.00 the parts were stolen off the boat before I purchased it. SO, my first idea is to install a macerator between the toilet and the tank, hit a switch when you sit down and let the macerator pump it to the tank. Then the second macerator will be used as normal to get it out of the boat.

the question is:::: will a macerator pump the poo up the 12 inch rise needed to get it into the top of the tank where the hose runs AND is there a back flow valve in a macerator??????? OR Do all of you have better ideas to get me thinking in a different direction

I would just replace with a newer Raritan toilet that has its own macerator and it will pump well over the 12" height. It has a backflow built in and runs off fresh water lines plumbed to the toilet. You will need an airlock if that was taken out with the old unit but my guess is it is still there somewhere in the plumbing.

Go to the Raritan website and look. Should be able to get one and if you install it, it shouldn't cost you more that $1,500

he is right. If you do it with the macerator in the line somewhere you will still need to run a water pump to flush. modern marine toilets come with both.

I just purchased a Marine Elegance with smart flush option. Reg flush, empty only, water only, or water saver mode. 649.00 plus shipping, just under 700.00 from Defender Marine. This unit uses a 1 inch or 1.5 inch discharge hose. Built in macerator, easy to install. Also has a one piece china bowl. The first one was delivered in two, called Defender a new one was at the door the next day. Great customer service.

Agree go with the Elegance, save the money on the smart switch... I just got the push button version for $391.45 do an Internet search.
It uses hardly any water per flush so the holding tank will last longer than with other heads.... it is also whisper quiet too

I hate to post here, dont want to make another main post. You guys all have deck pump out ports? I only have thro hull. I want to keep my system as well as add a pump out from the dock, meaning cut a hole to make mine like yours. I want them both to work tho. Offshore/marina. Im missing something here, I have the right idea in my head but cant figure out what parts im missing to make it work. I would like to buy a toliet like ricks and ready123, I took an electric toilet out.

Y valve and a holding tank

thats were im confused. If toilet has a holding tank and its pumps thro hull with one pump, will Y valve empty all in ocean? and will marina suck out both tanks? I think I have this way backwards in my head!!! I know I need a marina pump out. only asking because this work is very close.

Both tanks ? With the Y valve the head can be pumped to the holding tank or pumped over board . the Y vale should be lock in the holding tank postion . There should be a deck fitting to pump out at the dock .

another marine elegance vote from me. i have a purasan and am able to discharge overboard. i do have a holding tank with a y that was there when i bought the boat so can be used either way if needed
