through-hull drain plug replacement

So the rear drain plug in my 1976 F30 was frozen solid. the plug wouldn't come out of the through hull and the through-hull was also frozen in place. I slipped a hacksaw blade between the hull and outside of through-hull, and simply cut it out. I have been unable to find an identical replacement. I did find a through-hull that is almost identical(no inside thread for the plug) that I can apply a cap to.

Any input/suggestions/advice would be appreciated.

These Garboard drains and plugs are usually what we see. Can you make this work?

they don't make it for hulls as thick as mine. I was just at beckman's marine(they've been around forever) in new bedford and this was the closest they could get me, using three different catalogs.
My hull is at least an inch thick maybe 1 and a half inches back there.

fill AND glass the hull. or put a valve on it and add a raw water wash dowwn to the boat

If you do find the exact replacement thru-hull, consider a hex-head plug (available at commercial plumbing supplies), instead of the original square head.

Mine froze up too, and the square plug kept rounding off. I heated the thru-hull with a torch, and it broke loose real easy. I removed it, cleaned it, and re-installed it 5200. Switched to the hex-head plug, and now the plug removes easily with a ratchet and socket, instead of having to use a crescent on the old square head.

All I can add is that you cut it down so that you have enough thread for the nut and just enough to cap it off otherwise you'll always have 2-3 inches of water in the hull after draining (if you ever get that much in there).

I have decided to go with a new bronze through-hull and matching seacock, with a raw water washdown/baitwell pump. I came close to repairing the hole and forgetting about it, but I started regretting it once I began to prep the area. I plan on doing a fair amount of fishing so the washdown and livewell will get plenty of use.
