my lower helm shifter controls work however the right shifter lever is very loose with a lot of slop within the mechanism not in the cables. I am going to pull it and see if repairable. Does anyone know of a parts source, seems to work fine but very loose, left lever is fine.

I will lube cables and mechanisms once looseness solved. Also looking for a duplicate morse dual shifter to put on fly bridge, it was replaced with some other brand and would like them to be same top and bottom.

Larry, look for a tension adjustment screw. Perhaps it has backed off.

if that is on top with a jam nut checked it, did not help. Ii is only the right shift lever and acts like a nylon or plastic busshing is gone. Gonna pull it out and dissassemble it and see. Have not found any rebuild kits, may not exist. :(

Could be wrong but I seem to recall a lever tension adjustment screw and a detent tension adjustment screw.

Thx big D, I can see both ot them which are allen screws with a lock nut on them. Actually the area where lever hub is inserted is where the loosness is. I would like to get a diagram of the internal parts, if anyone has them, there is surely some kind of nylon or other material as a bushing the lever hub turns in which is worn.

Trojan mounted these things with small bolts and a nut on the bottom, very difficult to get it out without losing the nuts. I plan to try and get it out and on my bench tomorrow.

Larry I know im not much help. BUT when I got her home I was playing around and my controls had alot of slop, at least 2 inches forward and back. I tore it apart and inside was large broken peices of white colored hardend plastic, o-rings kind of like shims or peices I would find on my R/C car toys. Kinda sounds like what you are talking about. Just made me think maybe it had fallen apart over the years....

Larry, try contacting Teleflex. Email them a picture if you can't get a model off your unit.

Hello all, problem was solved once I got the control on my workbench. Dissassembled and found there is not much to wear on them. The loose lever problem was as follows.

Each lever has a shaft that goes into the mechanism. They were designed as a taper with a flat so they can only go in one way. Once the mechanism is split int two halves, readilly understandable how to do it when viewing, there is a screw for each side that keeps the taper pulled in tight which can come loose. In my case the phillips head was stripped and could not be properly tightening, may have come that way. Used a new screw, lubed all parts and works perfect with clear neutral detent.

Caution, there is a nylon bushing as I suspected, and it is quite difficult to get it and the turning shaft back in, it is held together with an external snap ring under the lever hub. Leave it in place. Just lube and check the screw that holds the shifter lever into the mechanism.

Also the dual throttle assembly is identical without the detent ball, spring and screw plug, but is machined so one can add them and use for the shifter.

Did not take any pics as it is easy to see how it works with few parts.
