Any recommendation on replacing the points for my twin 454/350's.
Is it worth replacing with electronic kit? Any advice is welcome.

I changed my distributors to Accel HEI but if I were going to keep my original distributors and just convert to electronic ignition, I most likely would have gone with Pertronix. Forget the points!

I agree with Jamie, it is what I did, and their first generation units are still working great. Having said that, before you spend the money, ensure that the distributors themselves are in good condition mechanically as the kits will do nothing to correct the symptoms of worn distributors. And make sure you recheck the timing after the convertion.

Is it worth buying the complete conversion kit for electronic ignition, new distributor assemble and the whole nine yards, of just the points to electronic kit?

I can't think of any cons other then the expense....

If you can afford it, always best to go with the new distributor IMO. You will still be dealing with advance weights and springs though. I believe Mallory has a kit with the distributor, wires and coil included that may turn out to be cheaper than purchasing individual components. Though expensive, this should put your ignition system back into full spec. The only caution I have is that you ensure it is specifically designed for a marine application so you're getting a marine advance curve, and when it's installed, that you ensure Total Advance spec for the engine is achieved....this is critical when getting an aftermarket distributor.

I just did the electronic ignition. never had an issue the 4 years I ran them. easy to do.

I replaced my complete distributor's with new electronics just because I am excessive my wife say's. But the kit's would do just fine, if your distributor's are worn you can have my old one's they have about 600 hours on them. if you want them for free let me know I drive through Fallston almost every weekend.

replace them points...your engines will love you, and you'll most likely get the $ back in better MPG and time checking gap and dwell...
