Diesels in Pickup Trucks

This is not about a boat but relates. If you own a diesel pickup truck, any brand really, mine is a Ford F350 6.0 Diesel be sure and drive them a couple of times a week and give a few seconds of drive it like you stole it.

Why? Variable vane turbos carbon up and get stuck and boost goes away, once stuck one might be able to take it off and clean it but will hapen again.

I just had a one day delay in going to coast fishing when my turbo crashed. Fortunately I made it to a Ford dealer who had a turbo in stock. $2500  later and next morning made it fishing with no problems. :D . Only has 67K miles.

Just do not let them set for loooong periods without giving them excercise.
These turbos do not incorporate waste gates so the computers can control them.

And always let it idle before shutting off a turbo engine .

BTW $1200 for a new turbo for mine part only . replace one a few years back .

Just had them do it, time was not on my side. List price on Rmfg Turbo was 1300. I am sure one can beat that price. It is a pain in the backside to put in.
