Small engine 2 barrel sputter/shut off after high speed
Under the motor is the fuel pickup with filter. Feeds gas through a 3/8 lines. Next to it is a clogged up plastic line most likly a vent hose. Would this clogged line cause the motor to not regain idle after 20-30 minutes of running good. Also think my gas went bad from febuary to june even though i used stabilizer. Please answer if you can, im sittin on the water baking in the sun right now and am trying to avoid pulling card for rebuild, thanks a bunch
Jeff, I'm having a hard time picturing what you're describing but if you're talking about a clear line attached to the fuel pump as noted in a pic on another thread, that tube gets hooked up to the carb to dump fuel there if the fuel pump diaphram ruptures. The run-on could be that the carb is dumping fuel into the intake manifold after the engine is shut off, also ensure that idle is set to spec and not running too high.

ok yes that is the tube, and for the first time in years this tube was slammed packed full on hard black stuff. I adjusted idle down. I have to adjust high in the winter for some reason., carb is rebuilt 2 years ago. The fuel filter was trashed as well. some how my gas went bad with stabilzer. sorry for the confusion but you were exactly right about what I was describing. I left carb on and removed and cleaned everything else, cleaned card on ther motor and wiffey is going for new filter kit. should be ok I hope
