Upper station transmission and gas cables

Just seeing if anyone has a good outlet and knows the lengths of the cables needed for both transmission and gas control. The control cables are very stiff and I am thinking I should change them before I get into trouble while docking. I just had the tip of one of them snap off. Good think I had just backed in and could shut it down.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Check with Bob here at Beacon. I'm sure he has the specs and prices on cables.

Have you ever lubed them?
I had stiff shifters and lubed both the fly and lower cables using marvel mystery oil and had no trouble since.

I replaced the old (grey = Std 33C cables and red = 33C Supreme cables) throttle cables with Teleflex's top-of-the-line TFXtreme (Black) CC633xx cables:

1974 Trojan F32 with Twin Cummins 6BTAs (should be similar length for gas engines - perhaps 1 foot shorter on the lower to engine cable?):

> STBD upper to lower throttle cable - Teleflex TFXtreme 19' cable CC63319
> STBD lower to engine throttle cable - Teleflex TFXtreme 10' cable CC63310
> PORT upper to lower throttle cable - Teleflex TFXtreme 19' cable CC63319
> PORT lower to engine throttle cable - Teleflex TFXtreme 13' cable CC63313

NOTE: The old cables were NOT the same length as the new cable (total amount extending from fittings), so they MUST be replaced together (upper and lower at same time).

The CCX633** 3300CC/33C is the Universal type (10-32 threaded end) that should fit your Morse controls. The "**" is the length in feet. http://teleflexmarine.com/wp-content/up ... heetus.pdf

see thread http://www.trojanboats.net/wforum/viewtopic.php?t=1174

Good luck!

Thanks to everyone for the input. The Mystery Oil and 50lbs of pressure did an amazing job. I will do it again later in the season, but it really worked well. :D
