engine raw water intake hoses - mid cabin

My engine intake hoses cross over each other so that the Stb engine is connected to the port intake/scupper and vise versa.

It would be easier to access the bilge pump and if they went directly to each and I've seen it that way in a bunch of pics. When I replaced my hoses, I copied the routing that was already there.

Is that correct? I'm not sure it makes a huge difference either way as long as the hose doesn't kink and mine has wire.

Bob, would not make a difference as long as water flows. But as you have seen you limit your bildge access. Mine are routed to each strainer as there are 90 deg. fittings on each.

Really makes little difference , but the norm is port thru hull to port engine stc. and thats the way I would have it .

Agree with above; not much difference. Having said that, don't assume that someone else working on your boat will see that they are crossed. If they aren't carefull, they can blow an impeller or worse if they assume the seacock for the other engine is the one that's closed based stricktly on location as usual. If it's practical, I would change it, and I'm the only one that works on my boat!

ok, guess I'm the odd man out. I'm going to going to switch them accordingly.

Maybe the hose I replaced didn't have wire and it kinked. That could explain why they crossed them over. It is a nice gradual bend so that would be a way around it.
