headliner perf or not perf?

been searching the forum and elsewhere online, and no one really addresses why the original is perforated. I would imagine ventilation, but I just picked up marine vinyl for 5 bucks a running yard! The admiral has been looking online and has read non perf is no big deal. there is a 1/2 inch space so maybe its ok?
I have seen ready123 has done his and saw the link he posted (good deal $12/yard) Will it cause big dramas using solid vinyl (we do not have air and don't use heat)

I wouldn't go non perf.
Even though you don't use A/C or heat there will be times when the temp of the fiberglass skin will be different to that trapped air space and you are likely to get condensation then mold growth. Once the spores start they will continue to grow. Which may end up being the worse thing to breathe......
Consider sunny morning after a cool night.
What about when under shrink wrap?
Cooking hearty breakfasts on those cool early late season mornings.
I saw lots of condensation on the inside fibreglass while I was using my boat before I had replaced the liner.... especially after heavy breathing bodies during the night.

Agree on the perf ... hot bodies, bacon grease, farts, etc. ....

I know that type head liner was popular on cars at the same time . I can not remember seeing a solid vinyl head liner on a boat or car . They are perforated or a fabric that can breath . There must be a reason
To play it safe I would not go with a solid vinyl
