Hi, I have a 10meter with 454's and one of my belt driven raw water pumps is bad. Has anyone used the bolt on crankshaft pumps. I have the room to install one and they are significantly cheaper. $160 vs. $400. The bearing is frozen into the side of the housing in my old one. Thought I could get it out, but it doesn't look good.

Those have thier faults as well. Leaking shaft seals are common on OEM Volvo and Crusader. With Crusader, you can order rebuild parts but Volvo does not list the parts and wants you to buy the entire pump ($$$ more than $160)though aftermarket parts are available (standard bearings and seals).

Make sure you get a pump that is rated for a Big block they make several of these some are fine on a small block but a lager capacity is need for a big block and hi out put Small blocks . $160 sounds on the low side

Also you need to get the bracket for the crank mounted pump (to keep it from spinning)
Big block

In case some one with a small block is interested

Thanks, I did order the large block model F6b-9 with the large flow. Thanks for the site for the bracket. I happen to see a special on the Internet for 156.00 dollars. Usually lists for 200.00 or more

I there a good set of rules to follow after replacing, or new parts , as to primming the pump, I think i have seen, leaking ,busted disolved rotors,
ah! closed throu-valve for 15 min at 1500 rpm will fry and disolve all rubber fins. reversed hoses will also reak hell
I have gotten real fussy about primming and stop mechanicks that want to start em up! without proving prime to me.
