So this is a two part question
The interior lighting min my boat is all west marine 12v dome lights
http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/st ... Hibr_JadS8
this is the bulb
460388
i want to make these brighter? does anyone know what bulb will fir this thing since i cant even locate the OEM replacement bulb anywhere online? i want them to be bright white not just soft white.
and the second question is, the back deck of my f36 has two little bulbs that are operated off a toggle switch on the stbd side near the ladder, whats the bulb for replacement? any idea what would be a good replacement for this bulb to make the back deck light up a bit better?
Thanks for the help

just find them in LED or change the complete housing all togather. Easy and cheap.

there are 10 lights, and at $50 bux each thats a bit pricey especially since there isnt anything wrong with the housing, i just want the bulbs to be brighter, and the problem with that is that i cant find the bulb

Westmarine sells and standard socket base that converts the light to Xenon or Halogen,
You can also get an LED adapter, not sure if LED will be brighter,
the two position switch is one, white light two, red light?

if what i found is the bulb you have
then it is just a standard g4 base the bulb you have is only 11 candle power 10w
G4 BI-PIN Base, 12V, 10W, 0.83A,
11CP 460388 529362 In Stock $5.99
this is from west marine website the 20 cp would be brighter
G4 BI-PIN Base, 12V, 20W, 1.67A,
20CP 298190 529367 In Stock $12.49
but at that cost i would google 12 volt bulbs and you will see many hundreds of places to buy them cheaper
one example this place you can even get a 35watt really bright also will be much hotter the fixture might give a max wattage if you can find a tag on it somewhere

What we have to consider here is that increasing the load (bulb wattage) on a circuit by two or three fold could be an invitation for disaster if the circuit was designed/wired to carry only the rated load for the original equipment. I see this done all the time on upgrades, some lead to very bad results, others just ticking time bombs. You can not give up safety for a brighter cabin; the wiring must be considered everytime an electrical device is replaced/installed. First determine what the circuit/wiring is designed to carry, then you have a benchmark from which you can safely determine if increasing bulb wattage is an option. As indicated, a halogen of equal wattage should be brighter. You may also look into high output LED conversions; they're really bright.

ok sorry it took so long to reply guys
the wiring was upgraded last year when i installed all these new fixtures and it all runs through a switch, a fuse and a regulator directly into the battery.
when i purchased these i knew they weren't going to be the brightest items on the market obviously and by far still are better then the stock lights that the boat had when i got it. I just want it a little brighter that's all, nothing like daylight.
im going to take a look at the G4 bulbs and see what i can come up with, i didnt even know what socket they were untill just now
thanks for the help, now if only to figure out the back deck lighting issue lol.
