Flame arresters

It's winter in Michgan and so it's time to work on my '73 tri cabin till sping. One of my projects is to replace the fuel pumps with marine versions that vent to the flame arrester. My current flame arresters are 5.75"dia x 3"ht and they almost make contact with the bunk/bed/engine covers. I was thinking of 7"dia x 1.5"ht to give better clearance to the bunk/engine covers. The intake area would be reduced from 54 sq inches to 33 sq inches. These are M400 Chryslers.
Does anyone out there have M400 Chryslers with flame arresters smaller than 5.75"dia x 3" ht?????. I don't want to restrict the air intake thru the flame arresters unless others out there already have.
Thank you in advance for your help

Nothing is listed on the web site. I was thinking of getting them from Hurrikain.com since they sell a package deal for the fuel pump and flame arrester and hose and I can choose from 3 different flame arresters.
I can sure ask for the CFM info, but do we (you) know what CFM is acceptable?

Bob I would not say great info , Just going by the fact that the carb would be around 650 cfm and you would want the max flow above that , too low and it would be like running with the choke on .

Hurrikain.com checked with their OEM who didn't have any rating other than all of their 5.75"dia flame arresters would work with a large block V8. The different hieghts are 1.75" 2 3/16" and 3". The existing originals are 3", which probably means to be safe I stay with the 3". I just wanted more clearance to the covers.
