Greetings all….

Well, finally…..after two years of looking finally closed on an F32 today and in doing so, finally felt able to formally join the forum.

As an introduction, I should at first say thank you. For two years, whilst looking for the boat I wanted (it was between a Mainship 34,a Trojan, a Carver 325 and a Cooper)

I must have read every single post on this forum. It was incredibly informative and without having to ask what to look for in the purchase, found that there was enough information available to make the buying decision an informed one. Equally, seeing the many projects that many of you have undertaken in improving your boats made part of the buying decision an analysis of what was possible not just seeing what was on offer for sale.

By the same token, that was a little daunting.

Clearly, the skill sets present here were often beyond my own (I’m good at woodworking but know nothing of engines for example) which certainly made me question if I was biting off more than I could chew. Many of you have forgotten more than I’ll know.

But the exchange of information and ideas made me think that there was a good support network here unlike the other boat types I was looking at. And that was important to me as I’ve been away from water for most of the last decade thanks to multiple deployments in Afghanistan. Gosh, I had come close to making an offer on a boat in Colchester VT only to be deployed again and on return finding it had been put on contract LOL. Alas, that’s been life this past decade. More time away than at home. more desert time than water time LOL.

I will inevitably ask questions that may seem stupid, or to some of you self-evident in their answers given your collective experience. Have patience. I’ll try to think things out first – and I am meticulous in research, but I may indeed ask the question that seems dumb to some. And so for that, thanks for bearing with me in advance.

Not sure what else to say right now. The boat is in Chester CT and I can’t wait till spring to get her to my house. I have the great privilege of having a home on the water, on the Richelieu River, about 200m north of the Chambly Basin (for those of you that know the waters – just north of Lake Champlain). A great part of moving here was influenced by the Richelieu and navigable waters to Lake Champlain and points South – something I’d enjoyed for years growing up on a 52’ ketch.

And so, hello, thanks for all the information I’ve gleaned from this site, and look forward to future exchanges

Cheers/Merci

G

P.S. and yes I'll post picture soon :D

Welcome aboard George. Great to know you got something out of this forum. Some would say we`ve just been wasting time  but most of us know better. Can`t wait to see some pics of her.

Thanks for doing your part for us overseas.

This forum is one great feature of owning a Trojan. I take my hat off to those of you that take time to help out. I have asked numerous of what I'm sure many would consider stupid questions only to receive respectful and intelligent answers.
Thanks to all

And welcome to the club

George, bienvenue! I remember our emails from late summer of 2011. Now I know why I didn't hear back from you. Anyway, it looks like you ended up with a very nice boat. And let me know if you're on the northern end of the lake sometime.
