First, thanks all for the kind words of welcome and also about remarks about service. I'll just say at my age and rank it isn't me doing the heavy lifting anymore, but those wonderful young marines and soldiers who do so. I've noted many of you have served or have family serving and so the thanks go to those young kids, we owe them much.
To Paul, haven't decided how I'll bring her home, kinda depends on what's happening in springtime, if I have the time, cruising home would be great as I love LI Sound, some beautiful stops along the way, and the upper hudson is great too.
CP - I know you bought the Colchester boat, good on ya. Lake George is gorgeous. We usually are on the other side of the Lake at Burlington cause we like VT alot and its a short drive/run from where we are.
To the rest, yup, its a great forum. It was funny to see the brokers eyes as we'd chat about different aspects of trojans, where they glassed or didn't, specific areas of issue - not stuff I knew - just picked up from here - it was funny.
Pics of the boat follow and the final where she's ending up this spring.
Like any boat her age, she has some issues but none major. One of the attractions was that her interior was spotless which said much about the PO's it was astounding how clean she was. Bilges were clean, some moisture in one of the thwarts, but otherwise decent. Mechanically she was sound given 1100hrs on original engines - 360's/250hp and one cylinder was a little low on the compression test. New lines/hoses throughout, new carbs, arrestors, distributor/rotors, new aft tanks etc. Stringers were solid, some moisture on some small areas of the foredeck but no soft core ...same with the FB. The surveyor who did the boat and engines was great.....about nine hours in total including sea trial. Anyways, she's mine now and I'm just thrilled with that.
Some projects for winter are to redo exterior teak, build a new pulpit at home, a new galley table and probably just copy gettaway's galley refit (why reinvent the wheel LOL).
