Mid cabin - anchor washdown

Post by BobCT »

This has been one my punch list for a while. Where I boat, my anchor usually comes up covered in mud so it makes a mess. It was actually pretty easy if you're interested. I used 3/8" poly tubing (Lowe's) and Watts T connection and shutoff valve.

I started at the anchor locker and ran the tubing down the Stb side. Remove the speaker in the v berth and you'll see an area where you can feed it through. Remove the trim panel over the storage cutout and do the same inside the berth locker. The tubing tucks in right above the small blocks of wood that the trim panels screw into. Next, you'll need to remove the panel in the back of the head medicine cabinet and keep feeding towards the stern. Since my microwave was removed, I was able to see it right around the pump out hose for the head. Follow that basically straight down. Unscrew and lift up the lowest shelf right behind the toilet. That's where you want to add the T into one the 1/2" lines.

All told, it took me about an hour to get end to end but I know my way around. If you've re-bed stanchions already, it's basically the same process. I just need to find a spicket and mount it inside the locker to wrap it up.

I assume you are talking about setting up a rinse station? If mine is covered in mud I just dunk it 2-3 times before bring it aboard and normally all the mud gets rinsed off.

Bob,

You and I must be "connected" some how. I just spent quality time in that same spot running the power cables for our new windlass! I was amazed that my 250# butt fit in that hanging locker!

Its on my list too. The nbig Bruce sure holds good, but it brings up half the lakebed and deposits it on my hull most of the time. My plan is to repurpose my washdown pump for the anchor locker and get a new washdown. One thats powerful enough to deter fat girls from approaching when I am out bronzing. I'm thinking 7 GPM oughtta do it. ;)
