Throttle and shift controls

Post by Stripermann2 »

I am going to replace my original thottle and shift controls, on the bridge only, on my '85 F32 with the beefier Morse set-up. It seems straight forward. Anyone done the same? Anyone have a recommendation, part numbers etc?

Thanks.

Yeah- I've done it. I went a little overboard since I wanted all the controls to be silky smooth so I replaced both shift and throttle controls on both the upper and lower helms. I also replaced all the cables with Teleflex extreme's. It made a hige difference but break out the check book - I spent over a grand by the time I was done.

If your just doing one station, it should be a lot easier but don't expect "feel" to be much different than with the old controls. The only thing the Morse setup does do is eliminate the side to side floppiness of the Trojan controls.

That side to side floppiness is the reason I'm replacing them...thanks Jav.

I need new shifter housings

Post by TADTOOMUCH »

I need new housings for my shifter on the lower helm. Do you know where I can get exact replacements for my F-32 1978. I can make you an offer for your old ones if you want to sell them when you replace them.

No problem, I will keep you posted. In the past year, I just keep polishing the housings. I check with Marine Tech and they no longer have the housings anyway...

Shifter Housing

Post by TADTOOMUCH »

Mine are in good shape on both upper and lower helm. I'm in MI so no salt. Mine have cracks in the corners around the bottom of the shifter housing. The others on the throttles on lower helm are OK and those up on the bridge are OK.
