Impulsive Got A New Home Today

After 6 hours, four locks and 40 miles, Impulsive slipped into her new berth at 4:00 PM today. The trip went very well and she behaved like a charm. This was also our first cruise ,of any real note, where I was at the helm for the duration. While it was my hand on the tiller, my wife and our 15 yr old son were able crew. even with a chart plotter showing the way my wife insisted on "real charts". After we tied up at our new location at Young's Point on Clear Lake/Stoney Lake, she patted the chart plotter and said "I LOVE that little black box!"
We have been going to Young's Point for day trips and picnics for about 15 years. Many days we watched boats going up and down the Trent Waterway dreaming of the day we owned one big enough to cruise on. Today was THAT day.On our arrival we held a "New Hailing Port" ceremony...I made everyone on board have a toast of champagne and walk around the deck three times

I don't know if that's the correct version, but it works for us! As you can see in the last picture, I'm pretty pleased with it all
Here's a couple of pictures of her in her new slip

Some Things are better than ..x. Congrats! Have a great season.
Real charts are a must. Chartplotters can fail. Get caught without paper charts and the fine will not be small.

Thanks for the heads up...I didn't know there was a fine for that
After locking through at Burleigh Falls we lost the GPS signal because the tub is so deep (30' + ) and were on the paper charts any way. Not only the "official" charts, but the enlargements that my wife made prior to departure.Having both going through Hell's Gate, on the aptly named Stoney Lake was a real plus.

Thanks for the compliments!
Meet a few dockmates today and they all seem really nice...four came running when we came into the dock yesterday and the guy behind me is new to boating as well, so we have an agreement...toot the horn when you're coming in and the other guy will handle the lines for you.
Yes, we look huge compared to the boat in front, but last year our slip was taken up by a 40 footer. We have the nicest dock in the marina and it comes with a 12'x40' private deck, so we're really excited to start the season right.
Here is a view from the deck of Impulsive

very nice!!! i LOVE when a trojan, especially a TRI finds a new home and owners that will love her and care for her. mazel tov on the shakedown cruise, and may you have many many more safe voyages aboard her. as my dad used to tell us kids, ''treat her like a lady, and she will always bring you home.''
of course,i'd love to see some interior pics. she looks like a fine vessel. if i can assist on anything, you know where to find me.

Thanks for the well-whishes!
No interior pics, yet...she is pretty much stripped to the floor.I just dis-assembled that almost 40 year old couch to get it out the companionway door...OMG what a stink! New carpet gets laid this week, new couch and matresses going in, too. V-Birth was all re-upholstered with new foam over the winter with new hull and head liner going in as well. Both washrooms renovated with new fittings, etc...Did I mention that my wife HATES to use other people's "stuff"? So much so that even the microwave had to go. The guys at the marina were pretty happy to add it to their shop kitchen area, though.
I am looking forward to June, when I expect to be doing just the regular maintenance, and not the whole renovation gig too!
When we're done, there WILL be pictures
